Softball Game Preview: North Summit Braves vs. North Sevier Wolves

North Summit hasn't had much luck against North Sevier recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Braves will face off against the Wolves at 2:00 p.m. North Summit has given up an average of 17.6 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

North Summit is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game last Saturday. They came up short against Altamont, falling 16-1.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Sevier). They were the clear victors by a 23-12 margin over Rowland Hall on Tuesday. Considering the Wolves have won five contests by more than ten runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Saige Jensen was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with two triples, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Malmgren, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.

Jensen wasn't the only one making solid contact: North Sevier kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 23 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

With the win, North Sevier broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-10. As for North Summit, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. North Summit has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .474. However, it's not like North Sevier struggles in that department as they've averaged .454. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

North Summit suffered a grim 15-5 defeat to North Sevier in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Braves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
