Baseball Game Preview: Bastrop Bears vs. Chisholm Trail Rangers

The Bastrop Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Chisholm Trail Rangers at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Bastrop saw some tournament action on Thursday. They came up short against Northwest, falling 16-1.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Chisholm Trail's offense. They fell just short of Paschal by a score of 2-0 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Rangers have suffered since April 12, 2024.

Colton Gallardo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks.

This is the second loss in a row for Chisholm Trail and nudges their season record down to 1-3. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Bastrop, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Bastrop came out on top in a nail-biter against Chisholm Trail when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Will Bastrop repeat their success, or does Chisholm Trail have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
