Colfax and Placer are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The Colfax Falcons are taking a road trip to face off against the Placer Hillmen at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Last Thursday, everything went Colfax's way against Golden Sierra as Colfax made off with a 12-2 win.
Sabrina Williams was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Leiah Hicks was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Placer came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 17-4 margin over the Cougars. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for the Hillmen this season.
The team relied heavily on Livia WileyPearson, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those RBI were her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Thornton, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Placer was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .395. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Placer's record now sits at 4-2. As for Colfax, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Colfax has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Placer struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Colfax suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to Placer in their previous meeting on Tuesday. Can Colfax avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
