Baseball Recap: Independence Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Independence entered their tilt with Rocky River on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Ravens 12-1. The Patriots have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Ravens, too.

Chris Odom looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Chipper Hamrick, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Kyson Jones also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Independence always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.

Independence's record is now 7-10. As for Rocky River, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-10.

Independence will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Ravens: the pair will be back at it again later today.
