Softball Game Preview: Oneida Indians vs. Eagleton College & Career Academy Royals

The Oneida Indians will take on the Eagleton College & Career Academy Royals at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Oneida turned things around against York Institute on Friday. They came out on top against the Dragons by a score of 7-2.

Oneida saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lillian Hailey, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another was Lauren Stephens, who scored two runs.

Meanwhile, while Eagleton College & Career Academy put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Austin-East. The Royals were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Roadrunners. The Royals have beaten the Roadrunners the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Roadrunners has come to flipping the script.

Lyla Campbell made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had over her last three contests. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Eagleton College & Career Academy let Sara Wilson and Karleigh Baker run wild. Wilson scored two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances, while Baker scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That's the most runs Wilson has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Johnson, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Eagleton College & Career Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .920. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win got Eagleton College & Career Academy back to even at 10-10-1. As for Oneida, their victory bumped their record up to 4-8.

Oneida might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Eagleton College & Career Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
