Baseball Recap: Springfield Comes Up Short at Home Against Swanton

Springfield unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Swanton Bulldogs on Saturday. The Blue Devils were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in May of 2023.

Cale Whitmire made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two doubles, and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Springfield is headed away from home for the first time to face off against Rossford at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Swanton, they will host Evergreen at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
