Soccer Game Preview: Cocke County vs. Fulton

Cocke County hasn't had much luck against Fulton recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Fighting Cocks will face off against the Falcons at 6:30 a.m. Cocke County will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Cocke County had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the four-goal drubbing they dealt Seymour on Tuesday. The Fighting Cocks were the clear victors by a 5-1 margin over the Eagles. The result was nothing new for Cocke County, who have now won six matchups by four goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, it may have taken extra minutes to finish the job, but Fulton ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Austin-East 2-1. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Fulton's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee soccer rankings (they are ranked 85th, while Austin-East are ranked 211th).

Yefri Banegas Sosa was the driving force of Fulton's attack as he scored both of Fulton's goals, bringing his season total up to eight goals.

Cocke County's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 47 goals over those seven contests. As for Fulton, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3-3 record this season.

Cocke County might still be hurting after the 5-1 loss they got from Fulton in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Fighting Cocks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
