Baseball Recap: Mount Morris Comes Up Short

Mount Morris extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 17 on Monday, dropping them down to 0-9. They came up short against the Caledonia-Mumford Raiders, falling 19-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 last Friday.

As for Caledonia-Mumford, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-6. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Caledonia-Mumford's part, the team relied heavily on Dillon Alcott, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. What's more, Alcott posted three hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Zach Boop, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Looking ahead, Mount Morris will host Hinsdale Central at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bobcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.78 runs per game on average), something the Blue Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Caledonia-Mumford, they are taking a road trip to take on Warsaw at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
