Recap: D'Evelyn Jaguars vs. Wheat Ridge Farmers
In what's become a running theme this season, the D'Evelyn Jaguars gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They claimed a resounding 66-9 victory over Wheat Ridge on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win D'Evelyn has managed all season.
It was another big night for Peyton Marvel, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 16 rebounds. Marvel is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Megan Schonberger, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Wheat Ridge struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as D'Evelyn pulled down 27 offensive rebounds.
D'Evelyn's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Wheat Ridge, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. D'Evelyn will take on Conifer at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Conifer has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 2. As for Wheat Ridge, they will be playing at home against Golden at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Golden focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
