Volleyball Recap: Jasper Takes a Loss

Jasper was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Castle Knights. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Jasper started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-13.

When it comes to explaining why Jasper lost, don't look at Nora Breitwieser. Despite the final result, she had 19 digs and two assists. Breitwieser is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last four games she's played. Anna Levin also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Jasper's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-3. As for Castle, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jasper will face off against Evansville North at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Castle, they will square off against Owensboro Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
