Baseball Game Preview: Chaparral Pumas vs. Murrieta Valley Nighthawks

For the second straight game, Chaparral will face off against Murrieta Valley. The Pumas will challenge the Nighthawks at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

On Wednesday, Chaparral needed a bit of extra time to put away Murrieta Valley. They had just enough and edged out the Nighthawks 10-9. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Pumas as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Griffin Fien was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Fien was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Nicholas Vazquez was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Connor Wetzel, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Murrieta Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season. As for Chaparral, their win bumped their record up to 12-10.
