Wharton has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will welcome the La Marque Cougars at 7:00 p.m.

Last Friday, Wharton was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 28-24 to Columbia. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Roughnecks recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Wharton might have lost, but man, Ja'Keon Jackson was a machine: he threw for 259 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown. Jackson is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Keilon Jackson was Ja'Keon's top target, picking up 120 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask La Marque). They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Harmony School of Innovation 71-0 at home. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Wharton now has a losing record at 2-3. As for La Marque, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Wharton came up short against La Marque in their previous matchup back in September of 2023, falling 16-7. Can Wharton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
