Softball Recap: Wilson Comes Up Short

The matchup between Wilson and Lauderdale County on Tuesday hardly resembled the 1-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Warriors fell 12-9 to the Tigers. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Peyton May made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Avery Darby, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Wilson's loss dropped their record down to 16-14. As for Lauderdale County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wilson will face off against Exeter Township at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Lauderdale County, they will take on Mars Hill Bible at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
