Recap: Ventura Cougars vs. Pacifica Tritons
There's no place like home for the Ventura Cougars, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Wednesday. They breezed by Pacifica at home to the tune of 71-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Ventura has posted since November 16, 2023.
Leading Ventura to victory were Caleb Sebek and Travis Valenzuela. Sebek scored 22 points along with five rebounds, while Valenzuela dropped a double-double on 18 points and 17 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sebek has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Parsa Kamali, who scored seven points along with five assists.
Despite the loss, Pacifica still got an impressive performance from Isaiah Dillon, who scored 15 points. That was a full 34.9% of Pacifica's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Christian Garcia was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Pacifica struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Ventura racked up 25 assists.
Ventura's victory bumped their record up to 7-13. As for Pacifica, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-16.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ventura will take on San Marcos at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in San Marcos' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine matchups. As for Pacifica, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Oxnard at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Oxnard is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
