Basketball Recap: Dylan Anderson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat IDEA Edinburg College Prep

Vanguard Academy Beethoven hadn't done well against IDEA Edinburg College Prep recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Vanguard Academy Beethoven came out on top against IDEA Edinburg College Prep by a score of 69-61. This was a revenge game for Vanguard Academy Beethoven: when they faced off against IDEA Edinburg College Prep back in January, they had to take a 33-29 loss.

Vanguard Academy Beethoven's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dylan Anderson led the charge by going 9 of 14 on his way to 20 points and five steals. That's the most points Anderson has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Yandel Rosell, who went 7 for 16 to rack up 16 points in addition to six steals and five boards.

Several IDEA Edinburg College Prep players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gael Gama, who went 9 of 16 en route to 20 points. Gama is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. Justin Sanchez was another key player, going 6 for 9 on his way to 19 points and three steals.

Vanguard Academy Beethoven has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points over those games. As for IDEA Edinburg College Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-12.
