Softball Preview: Chapman Panthers vs. Gaffney Indians

The Chapman Panthers will square off against the Gaffney Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Things were looking good for Chapman after they put the first points on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Woodruff. Panthers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Wolverines since on Tuesday.

Alexis Floyd spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.

On the hitting side, Sophie Whitley and Kenslie Edwards stepped up to the plate in a big way. Whitley went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Edwards scored a run while going 3-for-4. Edwards also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Rylan Ivey was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Gaffney waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Generals with a sharp 9-2 win.
