Basketball Recap: Hunter Jager's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Kettering over Mott

Kettering was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss. They fell 60-50 to the Mott Corsairs. While losing is never fun, the Captains can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 565th, while the Corsairs are ranked 22nd).

Kettering lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Hunter Jager, who posted 11 points and eight rebounds. What's more, he also posted a 80% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in February of 2024. Jordan Jarrell was another key player, putting up eight points and five boards.

Kettering's defeat dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Mott, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season.

Coming up, Kettering will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Milford at 7:00 p.m. As for Mott, they will host Walled Lake Western at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
