Volleyball Recap: Granville Blue Aces vs. Licking Heights Hornets
Granville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Licking Heights Hornets. The Blue Aces were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hornets earlier this season, when they won 3-1.
Granville started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-22.
Elle Mortimer paced Granville's offense, picking up 16 kills. Mortimer got some help from Cassie Becker and her 15 assists. Melia Teter controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Granville's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Licking Heights, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Granville will square off against rival Johnstown-Monroe at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Licking Heights is set to challenge their familiar foe Lakewood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
