Recap: Venice Indians vs. Port Charlotte Pirates
The Venice Indians lost against the Port Charlotte Pirates back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Venice took a 41-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Port Charlotte. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Venice has scored all season.
Venice's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chad Fleming, who scored nine points along with three steals. Marcel Fil was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Venice has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Port Charlotte, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
Venice will be home for the holidays to greet Lemon Bay at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lemon Bay has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
