Softball Recap: Cuthbertson Takes a Loss

Cuthbertson entered their matchup against Parkwood on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Cuthbertson Cavaliers fell 4-1 to the Parkwood Wolf Pack. If the Cavaliers were looking for revenge after losing 9-8 to the Wolf Pack when the teams met back in March of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Georgia McConnell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Cuthbertson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabby Martens, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Cuthbertson's loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Parkwood, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.

When Cuthbertson and Parkwood next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Cuthbertson will try to stop Marvin Ridge's eight-game winning streak when they meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cuthbertson will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak dating back to last season alive. Meanwhile, Parkwood will challenge Central Academy and their three-game winning streak at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cuthbertson's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so Parkwood's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
