Recap: Avon Panthers vs. Diman RVT Bengals
The Avon Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 53-45 to Diman RVT. The match was a 24-24 toss-up at halftime, but Avon couldn't quite close it out.
Avon's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hanelie Cadet, who scored 15 points along with two blocks. That's the first time this season that Cadet posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Mallet, who scored 18 points.
Avon dropped their record down to 4-10 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Diman RVT, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Avon won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Atlantis at 3:30 p.m. on January 30th. Atlantis comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 17 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Diman RVT, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Bristol-Plymouth RVT at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th. Bristol-Plymouth RVT is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
