Basketball Recap: Horizon Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

Horizon had won two straight home games and Kaitlin Schumann did her part to make it three on Wednesday. The Horizon Hawks were the clear victor by a 60-35 margin over the Silver Creek Raptors thanks in part to Schumann, who went 9 for 15 en route to 21 points along with seven boards and five blocks. Those 21 points gave her a new career-high.

Hayden Hawley was another key player, putting up six points and three steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.

Despite the loss, Silver Creek saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Avery White almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 48.6% of Silver Creek's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Lixa Roth also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Horizon is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.9 points per game. As for Silver Creek, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Horizon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 59-41 defeat against Broomfield on the 17th. Silver Creek has also already played their next game, a 58-48 loss against Holy Family on the 17th.
