Haley Boudreau was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 21 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alanna Colon, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Mariah Fluery also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Mt. Hope was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They came up short against Tiverton, falling 13-1.
Mt. Hope saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sofia Haberman, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Johnston pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.5 runs this season. As for Mt. Hope, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.
Mt. Hope's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Johnston has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .492. It's a different story for Mt. Hope, though, as they've only averaged .353. Will they be able to contain Johnston's hitters?
Johnston took their victory against Mt. Hope when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
