Basketball Recap: Sarasota Christian Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Travis Miller and Ben Milliken

Sarasota Christian lost against Cardinal Mooney back in November of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Sarasota Christian Blazers took a 64-46 bruising from the Cardinal Mooney Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Blazers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 397th, while the Cougars are ranked 93rd).

Despite the defeat, Sarasota Christian had strong showings from Ben Milliken, who posted 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Travis Miller, who went 6 of 13 en route to 15 points. The game was Milliken's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Spenn, who earned four points.

Cardinal Mooney's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malakai Cuffy, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 17 points and three steals. Cuffy is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Jamaal George was another key player, going 5 of 10 en route to 16 points and five boards.

Sarasota Christian moved to 11-7 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Cardinal Mooney, the victory was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-1.

Sarasota Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 55-30 win against Canterbury on the 14th. Cardinal Mooney has also already played their next contest, a 69-62 victory against Southeast on the 13th.
