MaxPreps 2013 Football Freshman All-American Teams

Dylan Moses entered high school with considerable hype. The 6-foot-1 linebacker/running back did not disappoint.

Moses helped lead University Lab to a Louisiana state title game and Class 3A first team all-state honors after registering 158.5 tackles and six forced fumbles in addition to spelling Nick Brossette at running back.

And for that, Moses is the 2013 MaxPreps National Freshman of the Year.



Liberty County defensive back Richard Lecounte and Graham-Kapowsin lineman Foster Sarell were also close contenders for the award.


First Team Offense

WR - Jeff Thomas, 5-11, 170, East St. Louis (Ill.)
Thomas nearly hit the 1,000-yard mark playing for one of the state's top teams.

WR - De'Andre Swift, 5-7, 176, St. Joseph's Prep (Philadelphia)
Swift was perhaps Pennsylvania's most impressive freshman. He made big plays against some of the state's stiffest competition.

WR - Octavious Evans, 6-2, 175, Center (Texas)
One of the top freshmen in the Lone Star State, Evans made 67 grabs for 834 yards and seven scores.

TE - Ben Moos, 6-3, 200, Pullman (Wash.)
Moos, who also plays linebacker, averaged more than 18 yards per catch.

OL - Wes Harris, 6-3, 290, Aledo (Texas)
Harris saw plenty of time for the highest-scoring offense of all-time in high school football.



OL - Calvin Ashley, 6-6, 240, Dr. Phillips (Orlando, Fla.)
Ashley is very advanced for his age and was a key cog on Dr. Phillips' offensive line this fall.

OL - Foster Sarell, 6-6, 300, Graham-Kapowsin (Graham, Wash.)
Sarell is a manchild. He received offers from Washington and Eastern Washington just weeks into his freshman season.

OL - Emani Mason, 6-4, 280, East English Village Prep (Detroit)
Mason emerged as one of the top freshmen in Michigan and has the makings of a top recruit.

OL - Zach Leonard, 6-6, 300, Godby (Tallahassee, Fla.)
A monster of a young man, Leonard performed well on one of Florida's top teams.

QB - Danny Clark, 6-3, 200, Washington (Massillon, Ohio)
Clark threw for nearly 1,700 yards and 17 touchdowns as Massillon enjoyed a 9-3 season.

QB - Connor Curry, 6-0, 180, Evangel Christian Academy (Shreveport, La.)
Playing on one of Louisiana's top private school programs, Curry compiled more than 2,000 passing yards.



RB - Bruce Jordan-Swilling, 6-2, 215, Brother Martin (New Orleans)
The son of Pat Swilling, Jordan-Swilling was a load to bring down this season going up against some of the best competition in Louisiana.

RB - Maleik Gray, 6-1, 190, LaVergne (Tenn.)
One of the first 2017 recruits to get an offer, Gray earned all-district honors as a ninth grader.

RB - Todd Sibley, 5-10, 188, Archbishop Hoban (Akron, Ohio)
Sibley ran with uncanny power as a freshman, but also showed breakaway speed.

ATH - Bruce Judson, 5-11, 175, Cocoa (Fla.)
Judson lined up behind center for the Florida small-school power and recorded more than 1,000 yards passing and rushing.

First Team Defense





DL - Robert Holmes, 6-5, 330, Oxbridge Academy (West Palm Beach, Fla.)
Holmes is a massive youngster who already has the size of an elite zero-technique lineman.

DL - Camaron Spence, 6-3, 270, Gilman (Baltimore)
Spence played defensive end, but his future could be on the offensive side of the ball, as he also played tackle for the Maryland power.

DL - Marcus Hawkins, 6-3, 260, Freedom (Morganton, N.C.)
One of the more productive freshman defensive linemen, Hawkins was responsible for 62 tackles and six sacks.

DL - A.J. Epenesa, 6-5, 230, Edwardsville (Ill.)
An injury ended his season early, but Epenesa was borderline dominant when healthy.

LB - Dylan Moses, 6-1, 205, University Lab (Baton Rouge, La.)
Ballyhooed freshman lived up to the hype, helping to lead University Lab to the state title game.

LB - Dante Sparaco, 6-3, 205, Glenwood Springs (Colo.)
A midseason call-up, Sparaco immediately proved he belonged. He may start at quarterback next fall.



LB - Delvin Jordan, 6-1, 205, Page (Sand Springs, Okla.)
Jordan also lined up at defensive end and was a very impressive pass rusher.

LB - Anthony Hines III, 6-2, 205, Episcopal School of Dallas
Hines was No. 2 in the nation in sacks for a freshman, bringing down the quarterback nine times.

LB - Giovannia Moore, 6-2, 235, Carver (Columbus, Ga.)
The physically gifted Moore looks like the next big recruit from the Georgia talent mecca.

DB - Darnay Holmes, 5-10, 175, Oaks Christian (Westlake Village, Calif.)
On one of the area's top teams, Holmes contributed greatly at cornerback, highlight by an interception return for a touchdown.

DB - Richard Lecounte, 6-0, 160, Liberty County (Hinesville, Ga.)
Lecounte was perhaps Liberty County's best defensive player on a squad that featured Class of 2014 blue chip linebacker Raekwon McMillan.

DB - R. J. Potts, 6-0, 160, Fishers (Ind.)
A hard-hitting safety, Potts intercepted two passes in addition to making 47 tackles.



DB - Jamyest Williams, 5-8, 160, Duluth (Ga.)
Also a talented receiver, Williams recorded 32 tackles and grabbed two interceptions playing cornerback.

Second Team Offense

WR - Tarik Black, 6-2, 175, Cheshire Academy (Conn.)
In racking up 745 receiving yards and nine scores on 40 catches, Black also compiled an impressive highlight reel.

WR - Dakari Matthews, 6-0, 150, First Coast (Jacksonville, Fla.)
One of DeAndre Johnson's favorite targets, Matthews made a splash as a ninth-grader, registering 624 receiving yards and seven scores.

WR - Tyjon Lindsey, 5-8, 160, Poway (Calif.)
Teammate Tate Martell garnered much of the hype entering high school, but Lindsey stole the show as a freshman, highlighted by a three-touchdown performance against Westview.

TE - Giovanni Hightower, 6-4, 215, McCallie (Chattanooga, Tenn.)
Hightower made an impression at tight end and defensive end for McCallie.

OL - Jonathon McCallister, 6-3, 240, DeLand (Fla.)
McCallister started at right tackle for DeLand and goes by the nickname "Big Bird".

OL - Aaron Banks, 6-7, 340, El Cerrito (Calif.)
On a team loaded with recruits, Banks made a name for himself and has the makings of a future star.



OL - Kayden Lyles, 6-3, 290, Saguaro (Scottsdale, Ariz.)
Lyles contributed on what was an utterly dominant Saguaro team. He saw action on both sides of the line.

OL - Tedarrell Slaton, 6-5, 308, American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.)
Slaton paved the way for Sony Michel to rush for 1,737 yards and 21 touchdowns.

OL - Robert Haines, 6-3, 230, Gateway (Monroeville, Pa.)
Haines was a rare freshman starter for the Western Pennsylvania power.

QB - Lowell Narcisse, 6-2, 185, St. James (La.)
The lefthander completed 122 of 235 passes for 27 touchdowns and 2,013 yards.

QB - Bailey Hockman, 6-2, 180, McEachern (Powder Springs, Ga.)
The coach's son, Hockman was elevated to starter due to an injury and looked like a seasoned veteran going up against top AAAAA competition in Georgia. He finished with 1,096 yards and 11 touchdowns.

RB - AJ Davis, 6-0, 180, Lakeland (Fla.)
Davis carried the ball 101 times for 826 yards and five scores, helping Lakeland to a 9-2 season.



RB - Elijah Barnwell, 5-10, 185, Piscataway (N.J.)
After rushing for more than 1,000 yards as a ninth grader, it appears Barnwell could be the next big thing out of this NFL factory.

RB - Luke Waddell, 5-8, 160, Loveland (Ohio)
Waddell was a key piece in Loveland's Division II state title run.

ATH - CJ Cotman, 5-10, 175, Clearwater Central Catholic (Fla.)
Cotman earned a reputation as one of the most explosive athletes in the area regardless of grade.

Second Team Defense

DL - Brehon Gaddy, 6-4, 295, Washington (Norfolk, Va.)
Gaddy was a second team all-conference pick and could be the next big defensive lineman to emerge from Virginia.

DL - Jordan Strong, 6-2, 250, Omaha North (Neb.)
Strong displayed flashes of greatness, including an interception he returned for 26 yards.

DL - Corey Malone Hatcher, 6-2, 210, St. Joseph (Mich.)
Malone Hatcher split time on varsity and sub-varsity levels, but looked extremely promising in both.



DL - Aubrey Solomon, 6-2, 270, Lee County (Leesburg, Ga.)
Solomon earned all-region honors as a mere freshman, showing great explosion off the ball.

LB - Joshua Ross, 6-0, 194, St. Mary Prep (Orchard Lake, Mich.)
Before suffering a season-ending injury, Ross was a playmaker, recording 35 tackles and an interception.

LB - Dylan Meeks, 6-2, 210, Dr. Phillips (Orlando, Fla.)
Another standout ninth-grader for Dr. Phillips, Meeks made 75 tackles and five sacks.

LB - Blake Gallagher, 6-1, 215, St. Sebastian's School (Needham, Mass.)
Gallagher, who played freshman ball as an eighth-grader, was a force at both linebacker and fullback for St. Sebastian's.

LB - Markail Benton, 6-2, 205, Central (Phenix City, Ala.)
With his frame and nose for the football, it's easy to see why college coaches have already taken an interest in Benton.

LB - Eric Crosby, 6-2, 210, Ocean Lakes (Virginia Beach, Va.)
Crosby was a key contributor on an Ocean Lakes team that finished the season 12-1.

DB - Drew Singleton, 6-0, 180, Paramus Catholic (N.J.)
A highly touted incoming freshman, Singleton did not disappoint. He cracked the varsity rotation and even snagged an interception in a victory over Delbarton.



DB - Mike Silva, 5-9, 170, Milton Academy (Mass.)
Silva was a ball-hawk, hauling in a whopping seven interceptions.

DB - Savalas Cann, 6-1, 180, Bamberg-Ehrhardt (Bamberg, S.C.)
In addition to his work in the secondary, Cann starred on special teams. He registered an 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against Edisto.

DB - Aapri Washington, 5-8, 155, SouthLake Christian Academy (Huntersville, N.C.)
Washington stepped in as a freshman and recorded six interceptions.
