Baseball Recap: Mountain Grove Comes Up Short

The matchup between Mountain Grove and Licking on Tuesday hardly resembled the 2-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Panthers came up short against the Wildcats, falling 17-2. The Panthers have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Mountain Grove saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trace Harker, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Mountain Grove now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Licking, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mountain Grove will face off against Ava at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Licking, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Stoutland at 5:00 p.m. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
