Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Greene Central). They came out on top against the Ayden - Grifton Chargers by a score of 70-61 on Friday. While the Rams didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Greene Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dontrez Evans, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 17 points and three steals. Evans is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. Joshua Cetnar was another key player, putting up ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Greene Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive games.

Loss or not, Ayden - Grifton got some senior leadership from Hatteras Jenkins and Jahmir Outlaw. Jenkins posted 21 points, while Outlaw put up 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Outlaw has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of EJ Ruffin, who had five points.

Greene Central has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Ayden - Grifton, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-6.

Greene Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-58 loss against Washington on the 7th. As for Ayden - Grifton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 76-49 victory against Southside on the 6th.
