Preview: Valley Patriots vs. White Deer Bucks
Valley has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the White Deer Bucks at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully White Deer likes a good challenge.
In what's become a running theme this season, Valley gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 59-25 win over Hedley. Given Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while Hedley is ranked 1521st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emberlynn Mullin, who scored 22 points along with two steals. Allie Pigg was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, White Deer scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Hedley, posting a 61-19 victory on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win White Deer has posted yet this season.
Valley pushed their record up to 26-2 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for White Deer, their win bumped their record up to 9-12.
Everything came up roses for Valley against White Deer when the teams last played on January 9th as the team secured a 65-32 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Valley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
