Flag Football Recap: Xavier College Prep Piles Up the Points Against Westwood

Xavier College Prep put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Westwood Warriors 70-0. With that win, the Gators brought their scoring average up to 36.8 points per game.

Xavier College Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ana Matuz, who threw for 289 yards and ten TDs while picking up 12.0 yards per attempt. Matuz is crushing it when it comes to passing touchdowns: she's passed for at least three every time she's taken the field this season. Xavier College Prep's leading receiver Evie Maas was Matuz's top target yet again, picking up 173 receiving yards and four scores.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Xavier College Prep's defense and their four sacks. In that department, Isa Ady was the leader with two.

Xavier College Prep's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Westwood, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Xavier College Prep will face off against St. Mary's at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Westwood, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Queen Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' defense has only allowed 1.5 points per game this season, so the Warriors' offense will have their work cut out for them.
