Volleyball Game Preview: Lindbergh Flyers vs. Mehlville Panthers

The Lindbergh Flyers will head out on the road to challenge the Mehlville Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lindbergh is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Missouri's top teams: Marquette, who was ranked sixth at the time (Lindbergh was ranked third). The Flyers came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday. The Flyers haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

While Lindbergh might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Marquette scored at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-27, 25-19, 25-18.

Lindbergh relied on the efforts of Alex Ahrens, who had 25 assists and seven digs, and Tyler White, who had 13 digs. That's the most digs Ahrens has posted over his last seven games.

Meanwhile, Mehlville had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Jaguars.

Mehlville was especially dominant in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-9, 25-21.

Lindbergh pushed their record up to 15-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Mehlville, their victory bumped their record up to 13-4.

Lindbergh was able to grind out a solid win over Mehlville in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 3-1. Will the Flyers repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
