Softball Recap: Ninety Six's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Ninety Six waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Mid-Carolina Rebels 10-4. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.

Meghan Kimberling spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Laural Fleming was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. She is also on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Shelby Temples was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Ninety Six's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games. As for Mid-Carolina, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.

Coming up, Ninety Six will face off against Dixie at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hornets' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Mid-Carolina, they will challenge Fairfield Central at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
