Football Game Preview: Enloe Eagles vs. Leesville Road Pride

Enloe hasn't had much luck against Leesville Road recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Eagles will face off against the Pride at 7:00 p.m. Enloe is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.

If Leesville Road heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Enloe took over last week. The Eagles blew past Athens Drive 50-22 on Friday. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Jaguars are ranked 248th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Enloe's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was O'Sean Johnson, who rushed for 125 yards and a pair of TDs on only 14 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Leo Gorga, who threw for 156 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.1% of his passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Enloe was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 303 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 250 rushing yards in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Leesville Road fell victim to Millbrook and their airtight defense on Friday. They were outmatched by the Wildcats and fell 28-0. Having soared to a lofty 56 points in the game before, the Pride's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Leesville Road's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-2. As for Enloe, their record now sits at 5-1.

Enloe came up short against Leesville Road when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 27-21. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
