On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sydney Herrmann, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Avon posted their closest victory since May 18, 2024 on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Brownsburg, sneaking past 10-9.
Olivia Yeary was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Lilly Heath, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Avon hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive contests.
Center Grove's win bumped their record up to 23-3. As for Avon, their victory bumped their record up to 11-17.
Center Grove's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's match. The Trojans have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Avon, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Center Grove continue to outrun the ball?
