Baseball Recap: Roncalli Finds Playoff Glory Versus Lourdes/Valley Christian

It's playoff time, and Roncalli had no trouble coming through when it counted. They had just enough and edged out the Lourdes/Valley Christian Knights 7-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Jets.

Jake Hillmer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Roncalli is 8-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Hillmer was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Carter Kilbride was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Roncalli's win bumped their record up to 14-9. As for Lourdes/Valley Christian, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Roncalli will square off against Algoma at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolves' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Jets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Lourdes/Valley Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
