Last Thursday, Leonard didn't have quite enough to beat Olympic Heights and fell 19-18. The Lancers haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Arianna Sheerer stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored four runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Meghan Stimson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.
Even though they lost, Leonard kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Berean Christian put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Atlantic Christian by a score of 14-11.
Julianne Severson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she gave up only four walks, the fewest she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lillian Severson, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Severson is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least two every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Lilly Norton, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Berean Christian's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Leonard, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Leonard has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .634. However, it's not like Berean Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .647. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
