Baseball Game Preview: Newton Eagles vs. Richland County Tigers

For the first time this season, Newton will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will face off against the Richland County Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Newton will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Newton saw some tournament action on Saturday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over Vincennes Lincoln.

Drake Wolf was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Baltzell, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Richland County fell victim to Vincennes Lincoln and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They lost 12-0 to the Alices. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Newton's victory bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Richland County, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Newton couldn't quite get it done against Richland County when the teams last played on Thursday as they fell 4-1. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
