League recap: Seminary tops Mize to extend winning streak

3A Region 8 recap September 24, 2013

Adding to the longest winning streak in 3A Region 8 this week, Seminary beat Mize 41-10,. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.

Sumrall lost to St. Stanislaus 55-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. jordan thomas was a bright spot for the Bobcats, as he caught 3 passes for 71 yards in the loss.

Perry Central's dynamic duo of Ashanta Bolton and Stevie Scott proved tough for North Forrest to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Bolton threw for 192 yards and 4 touchdowns and Scott had 160 yards receiving.

The Bulldogs' dynamic duo of Bolton and Scott proved to be unstoppable against the Eagles, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

He was 8-15 with 3 interceptions.

Josh Miller was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 82 yards on 12 carries as West Marion defeated North Forrest. Teammate Brandon Husband added to the ground attack by rushing for 42 yards.

Scott was the best wideout in the league this week as Todd Lowery's team topped Anthony Dillon's team.

Bolton put up the best numbers in passing as the Bulldogs defeated the Eagles.

Perry Central's Bolton and Scott have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 3A Region 8 in both passing and receiving yards. Bolton has thrown for 736 yards this season, while Scott has 17 catches for 449 yards. Miller from the Trojans leads the league in rushing with 380 yards.

Seminary made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,272 from 2,489. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 41-10 victory over the Bulldogs last week.
