Basketball Game Preview: James Island Trojans vs. Ridge View Blazers

The James Island Trojans will square off against the Ridge View Blazers at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as James Island comes in on three and Ridge View on 15.

James Island is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They came out on top against Cane Bay by a score of 60-51.

Gavin Ward continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, to rack up 22 points. He has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Matthew Gladden was another key player, putting up 12 points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Ridge View faced Summerville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Ridge View walked away with a 62-50 win over Summerville.

Ridge View's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-7. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.4 points over those games. As for James Island, their win bumped their record up to 19-8.

James Island might still be hurting after the 60-37 defeat they got from Ridge View in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can James Island avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
