Baseball Game Preview: Avery Bulldogs vs. Yantis Owls

The Avery Bulldogs will take on the Yantis Owls at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Avery saw some tournament action on Friday. They came up short against Neches, falling 10-1. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Yantis, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They had just enough and edged out Saltillo 5-3. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Owls as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

CJ Madison was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out 14 batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Five bases. while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Ashton Rodriguez was excellent, scoring a run and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in both of his plate appearances. Alex Lopez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Yantis' win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Avery, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5-1.
