Basketball Recap: Ten Straight Road Victories for New Hanover + How To Watch

New Hanover had won ten straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they bumped up to 2-1 to make it 11. Everything went their way against the Jack Britt Buccaneers as they made off with an 87-61 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2024.

Kellum Brown was a one-man wrecking crew as he dropped a double-double with 26 points and 12 boards. His big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 26 points. Jazir Wright-Mcghee was another key player, going 8-for-17 to rack up 20 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.

New Hanover was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jack Britt only racked up nine.

Having lost for the first time this season, Jack Britt fell to 2-1. The loss put an end to their undefeated start to the season.

Several Buccaneers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Deryian Mitchell, who shot 42% from the field en route to 22 points. Mitchell is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 19 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Julius Williams, who went 6-for-11 on his way to 15 points.

New Hanover will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Garner at 8:30 p.m. on December 5. As for Jack Britt, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 72-48 victory against Union Pines on the 25th.
