Hersey typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Palatine proved too difficult a challenge. They put the hurt on the Huskies with a sharp 9-3 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Pirates have posted against the Huskies since April 18, 2019.

Peter Mulhern made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joe Riley, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Toby Peterson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Palatine is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Hersey, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 24-7-1.

Looking ahead, Palatine will welcome Niles West at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Hersey, they will head out on the road to take on Fremd at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
