Football Recap: Cupertino Pioneers vs. Monta Vista Matadors

After soaring to 48 points the game before, Cupertino was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They were dealt a 46-8 defeat at the hands of the Monta Vista Matadors. The Pioneers were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.

Cupertino wouldn't let Monta Vista keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Will Hawkins was the leader in that area as all came courtesy of his dominant performance.

A big part of Monta Vista's win came down to the chemistry between Graham Ischo and his top target Trevor Chan. Ischo rushed for 164 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries while Chan rushed for 191 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. Chan's longest rush was for an impressive 54 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Cupertino's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Monta Vista, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-3-1.
