Preview: Birdville Hawks vs. Denton Broncos
Birdville and Denton are an even 4-4 against one another since February of 2016, but not for long. The Birdville Hawks will head out on the road to square off against the Denton Broncos at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Birdville suffered their biggest defeat since December 8, 2023 on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 47-23 walloping at the hands of Ryan. While losing is never fun, Birdville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 612th, while Ryan is ranked 86th).
Meanwhile, Denton's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. Their rough 54-30 loss to Colleyville Heritage might stick with them for a while. Denton was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-15.
Birdville has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season. As for Denton, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-16.
Birdville strolled past Denton in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 50-33. The rematch might be a little tougher for Birdville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
