Football Recap: Daniel Starts Season with Win Against Chapman

Daniel had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They claimed a resounding 43-0 win over the Chapman Panthers. The Lions have beaten the Panthers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Panthers has come to flipping the script.

Daniel found their leader in sophomore Jace Grass, who threw for 285 yards and two TDs, and also punched in one score on the ground. Another player making a difference was Kingsten Bibb, who gained 125 total yards and a touchdown.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Daniel, adding 13 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Anthony Scott, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Daniel didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kevin Jackson and Malik Maddox. Dexter Johnson was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making six total tackles.

Coming up, Daniel will look to defend their home field on Friday against Stratford at 7:30 p.m. As for Chapman, they will head out to challenge St. Joseph's Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
