Santa Fe hasn't had much luck against California recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Chiefs will challenge the Condors at 3:15 p.m.
Santa Fe is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They came up short against La Serna, falling 8-1.
Santa Fe saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Saryah Razo, who went 1-for-4 with one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask California). They put the hurt on Whittier with a sharp 16-1 victory on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Condors with their most commanding win of the season.
California also got a great performance from Pricilla Ramirez as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Ramirez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Hailey Chavolla was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Mia Martinez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
California always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
California's win was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Santa Fe, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Santa Fe hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like California struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Santa Fe might still be hurting after the 13-0 loss they got from California when the teams last played last Wednesday. Can the Chiefs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
