Pearland is on a nine-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Dickinson is on a seven-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Oilers will welcome the Gators at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Pearland is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 59-27 victory over Fort Bend Travis. Considering the Oilers have won eight matchups by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
It was another big night for Ja'Maurey Champion, who rushed for 201 yards and three scores while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 75-yard run. Royce Swan was another key player, rushing for 142 yards and one TD on only 11 carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Pearland was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 340 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 187 rushing yards in ten consecutive games.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Pearland's defense and their five sacks. In that department, DeMarco Jenkins was the leader with two. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with seven. Another thorn in Fort Bend Travis' side was Sam Armstrong, who made seven total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defended two passes in addition to snagging two interceptions.
Meanwhile, Dickinson hadn't done well against Atascocita recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Gators managed a 51-47 win over the Eagles. Given the Gators' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 46th, while the Eagles are ranked 165th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
A big part of Dickinson's victory came down to the chemistry between Lorenzo Aguirre and his top target Kaileb Peterson. Aguirre threw for 342 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per attempt while Peterson gained 275 total yards. Those 342 passing yards gave Aguirre a new career-high.
Dickinson's win bumped their record up to 11-0. As for Pearland, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 11-0.
Pearland came out on top in a nail-biter against Dickinson in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, sneaking past 16-14. Do the Oilers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Gators turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
