Baseball Game Preview: Peoria Christian Chargers vs. Cornerstone Christian Cyclones

Peoria Christian is on a nine-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Cornerstone Christian a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Saturday. The Peoria Christian Chargers will welcome the Cornerstone Christian Cyclones at 10:00 a.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Peoria Christian is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against Princeville on Thursday. They fell just short of the Princes by a score of 2-1. Chargers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Princes since on Thursday.

Peoria Christian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landyn Hauter, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Hauter has hit this season.

Meanwhile, Cornerstone Christian came up short against LeRoy on Thursday and fell 9-4.

Josh Kursell was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ryan Heil made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Peoria Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Cornerstone Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Everything went Peoria Christian's way against Cornerstone Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Peoria Christian made off with an 18-0 victory.
