Basketball Game Preview: Sutton Mustangs vs. Milford Eagles

Sutton and Milford are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Sutton Mustangs will face off against the Milford Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Sutton is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their match on Thursday with ease, bagging an 82-44 victory over Fairbury. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 22 points or more this season.

Harrison Herndon was nothing short of spectacular: he posted 26 points. Those 26 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Payton Reed, who scored 16 points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Milford, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 73-65 win over Beatrice on Thursday.

Sutton pushed their record up to 13-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 26.9 points. As for Milford, their win bumped their record up to 5-9.

Sutton beat Milford 39-29 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sutton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
