Football Game Preview: Christian Patriots vs. Point Loma Pointers

The Christian Patriots will square off against the Point Loma Pointers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Friday, Christian came up short against St. Augustine and fell 20-7.

Special teams was responsible for all of the team's points. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Kai Rosier, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Point Loma strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past Madison, posting a 55-26 victory. The Pointers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Point Loma's win came from a few key players Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Romeo Carter, who picked up 214 receiving yards and six touchdowns. Those six receiving touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryder Watson, who threw for 343 yards and five TDs while picking up 17.2 yards per attempt.

Point Loma didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Matteo Correia. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last seven games he's played.

Christian's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Point Loma, their win bumped their record up to 8-0.

Christian came up short against Point Loma when the teams last played back in September of 2023, falling 24-13. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
