Softball Recap: Sweetwater Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Sweetwater put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their undefeated season alive. They came out on top against the Lincoln Hornets by a score of 7-2. Seven seems to be a good number for the Red Devils as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Gabriella Sena made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Sena was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rianna Dela Paz, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emily Romero, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Sweetwater kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Sweetwater's record now sits at 8-0-1. As for Lincoln, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-7.

Sweetwater wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 8-1 victory against Montgomery on the 29th. As for Lincoln, they will head out to take on San Diego at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Lincoln's pitchers better be ready for this one: San Diego has averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
